about

Every year we do the Rpm Challenge it is for me a snapshot of where I am at each year in February. This year was especially important to document. There is a baby in the house! My son Oscar.

Every track on here was inspired by the first month and a half of his life. From the obvious songs like Poop and Eat and Shit and Sleep and Pee to Tennessee Piano. Which is the beginning to the melody from Tennessee Waltz. A song for some reason I sing to Oscar to lull him to sleep.

The Original plan was for this album to be all free improvised pieces with Oscar screaming and crying and making sounds. It turns out recording and then listening back to your baby crying is not fun. I tried one song and quickly realized it was a bad plan.

The sequence of this album is trying to mimic life in our house. Lots of singing little songs while he eats or is getting changed. Somewhat franticly at times making sure his needs are being met. Followed by him sleeping and the calm that brings

I would imagine someday if he hears this. It might be very embarrassing. Hearing all the songs about his mom's boobs.

It should be noted one song was added after February. SO it isn't a true RPM album. I wrote and recorded Say Hello to the Sunshine on March 2nd.
